Asheville City Soccer Club hosts Pride Night on June 30

Press release from Campaign for Southern Equality:

Asheville, North Carolina (June 27, 2018) – On June 30 at Memorial Stadium, the Asheville City Soccer Club will celebrate Pride Month. We invite you to “Be Yourself” and help us #MaxOutMemorial once again as the Blues take on the Charlotte Eagles at 7 p.m.

All are welcome to join this celebration of the LGBTQ community and the courage to live authentically. Proceeds from the evening will support the Campaign for Southern Equality, an Asheville-based non-profit that promotes LGBTQ equality across the South.

“Asheville City embraces the values that make our community a great place to live: inclusivity, diversity, and authenticity,” says Meghann Burke, co-owner, coach, and player. “Our club proudly celebrates Pride with the LGBTQ community and seeks to remind  and to serve as role models for kids in our community to be yourself.”

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Pride Night with Asheville City. Pride is about celebrating the LGBTQ community and creating spaces that signal what’s possible: a South where everyone is free to be who they are and to love whom they love. We know the difference it makes – especially for LGBTQ youth – to be part of celebrations like this and to hear the message – from their families, churches, coaches and teachers – that they are loved and supported unconditionally,” says Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, Executive Director of the Campaign for Southern Equality.

Asheville City Soccer Club seeks to provide an open and welcoming environment for all to embrace the beautiful game.

Asheville City women’s team is undefeated in their Inaugural Season, sitting in first place in the Carolinas Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, the largest women’s soccer league in the world. The team set the all-time WPSL attendance record in their first home match. Founded in 1991, the Charlotte Eagles are an evangelical Christian soccer team affiliated with Mission Athletes International. Historically, the Eagles have been among the top women’s semi-pro clubs in the country. The club currently competes as an independent team.
