Asheville Fire Department seeks information on small, set fires

Press release from the Asheville Fire Department:

The Asheville Fire Department (AFD) is requesting assistance from the public to share any information they may have in regards to several set fires within the City of Asheville.

Over the past month, AFD has responded to an increased number of small, set fires in our community. These fires include trash can fires, brush fires, dumpster fires and others. Open burning is not allowed in city limits; however, campfires are permitted for recreational use and for cooking. Regardless of the size, we are asking the public to report all unattended or out-of-place fires by calling 911.

Anyone who has information regarding a set fire, including any extinguished fires, please call a non-emergency number at 828-259-5481 to initiate a further investigation by an AFD fire investigator. The safety of our community is a top priority and therefore we ask everyone that if they see something, say something.
