Asheville FM’s Record Fair and record release set for Sept. 10

Press release from Asheville FM:

Continuing on the success of their previous Record Fairs, 103.3 Asheville FM announces the return of their annual event, partnered with the release of a local music compilation EP on a vinyl record.

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, Asheville FM will host the Record Fair at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville (87 Haywood St, Asheville). The fair brings together an estimated 30 professional and personal vinyl record dealers and collectors in a single venue for an all-day record shopping experience.

This year, the radio station will also release the first volume of “Real People Making Great Radio,” a musical compilation that showcases the local talents of some of Asheville North Carolina’s most exciting new groups and performers. The station partnered with Drop of Sun Studios which recorded and produced all the songs, as well as Citizen Vinyl, a local vinyl record pressing manufacturer for the production of the record.

“This is the best example of a community collaboration we could think of,” said KP Whaley, General Manager for Asheville FM. “It includes local talent, recorded locally, pressed locally, and promoted by your favorite local community radio station!”

A record release party will be held at the event with several of the artists performing throughout the day. Admission to the Record Fair gives access to the performances.
“Asheville FM strives to represent the diversity in our community with thoughtful and responsible programming and we’ve tried to replicate that goal here in the grooves of this album,” said Greg Cartwright, Asheville FM volunteer who helped steer the release of the compilation EP.

$15 VIP tickets will once again be available to allow one hour of early access to the fair for the first pick of all the incredible vinyl and includes a swag tote bag that can be used for record purchases. General admission begins at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., with a $5 – $10 suggested donation. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or at www.ashevillefm.org

Several Asheville FM DJs will be spinning all day, and beer and food concessions will be open during The Record Fair which is open to the public. Asheville FM will also have records, T-shirts, totes, pint glasses, and other items available for donation as well.

All proceeds from the event will help continue to fund the operations of the nonprofit community radio station.

Asheville FM keeps Asheville thriving by producing diverse and eclectic programming that inspires our listeners to build connections across our communities and to discover new music and ideas.
