Asheville Museum of Sciences hosts teacher open house, Sept. 15

ASHEVILLE, NC – September 8th– On September 15th, Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) is excited to host an evening at the museum, for elementary and middle school educators. This free event will showcase the museum’s new program offerings and host ignite talks from leaders in the STEM education field. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with activities wrapping up at 6:00 p.m.

The museum’s fall 2017 course offerings include in-house and outreach educational programs in Geology, Astronomy, Weather, and Forces & Motion for grades 1-5. STEM professionals will be presenting on the importance and future of STEM education in the ignite talks format (short 5-minute presentations).

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about each program and reserve field-trip and outreach dates throughout the Open House. Educators are encouraged to reserve dates well in advance, as field-trip space fills up quickly. Additionally, the AMOS education staff will be present to answer any questions and detail course offerings. After the Teacher Open House, educators are invited to join AMOS for September’s Science Pub: Pulse of the Planet- Monitoring the Climate with NCEI Climate Scientist Deke Arndt.

On September 15th, Asheville Museum of Science will open its doors at 4:30 p.m. for their Teacher Open House. Educators from around the area are invited to enjoy a free evening at AMOS while learning about the museum’s fall course offerings.
