Asheville Police Department requesting public’s help after Haywood Road shooting on June 24

Asheville Police are investigating a shooting on Haywood Road in west Asheville Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound victim at Mission Hospital around 3:22 p.m. on June 24th. When officers arrived, they located a victim with what appeared to be a singular bullet hole through the right arm and into the abdomen. While speaking with the victim, they indicated it occurred on Haywood Road. After getting shot, the victim then drove to the hospital. During their investigation, officers located a grey 2003 Dodge Ram Truck outside the Emergency Room with damage from a bullet hole through the windshield.

Since January 1, 2024, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 211 calls for service reporting shots fired or someone being shot. In addition, 20 people have been shot in Asheville this year.

Detectives ask that anybody who saw a vehicle fitting this description on Monday afternoon, or with any information about this incident, please contact the APD by calling (828) 252-1110.
