Asheville Police Department responds to homicide on Fayetteville Street

Press release from the Asheville Police Department:

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on January 13 the Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to Fayetteville Street in West Asheville after reports of shots fired. Upon arrival officers located Antwan Terrell Eddings (18), of Asheville, who had succumbed to injuries as a result of gunshot wounds.

Soon after arriving on scene the investigation revealed that a person of interest had barricaded themselves in a neighboring home. APD’s Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) worked diligently to encourage the person of interest to come out of the home.

After several hours the individual came out on their own accord and was taken into custody.

No additional information is available at this time. If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are encouraged to contact the Asheville Police Department at (828) 252-1110 or Asheville-Buncombe Crime Stoppers at (828) 255-5050, if they wish to remain anonymous.
