Asheville Police Department responds to second shooting in Walton Street Park

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

At approximately 9:02 p.m. on June 23 the Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound at Walton Street Park. Upon arrival officers located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, who has been identified as Kevon Tyshawn Ailes (25), of Asheville, was transported to Mission Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the shooting, two additional victims suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds arrived at Mission Hospital. One victim was treated and released, the other victim remains at Mission Hospital.

The Asheville Police Department has identified and interviewed several persons of interest in this case. In addition, Detectives are following up on leads to determine whether this incident is related to the June 22 shooting in Walton Street Park.
