Press release from APD:

UPDATE:  Man Identified, Officers Attempting to Notify Next of Kin.

Asheville Police Department investigators are asking the public’s help in identifying a man found deceased yesterday.

On Feb. 24 at 2:40 p.m., police responded to a call for service related to a death in the stairwell of an apartment building on S French Broad Ave.  Detectives and Forensic Technicians worked with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine that the death was likely due to a Fentanyl overdose, though lab results are pending.  They are still working to ascertain the identity of the decedent.

The deceased is described as a white male, 25-35 years of age.  He has a tattoo of a crown on his right wrist and a tattoo of a dagger piercing a heart on his left forearm.

If you have any information as to this person’s identity, please contact APD at (828) 252-1110.  Or you send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
