Asheville police seeking public’s assistance involving Wednesday night pedestrian fatality

Asheville Police Department Patrol Officers are investigating a fatal collision in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Sweeten Creek Road yesterday evening.  
Jason Matthew Perry (04/25/1977) came upon a collision involving a downed motorcyclist near the 1120 block of Sweeten Creek Road on Oct. 18. Perry stopped and exited his vehicle to assist the motorcyclist when he and the motorcycle were struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Sweeten Creek Road. Perry succumbed to his injuries on the scene; next of kin notification was made by Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office. 
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and remained on the scene. The driver of the motorcycle had minor injuries as a result of the initial collision but was not injured when Perry and the motorcycle were struck. 
All lanes of travel on Sweeten Creek Road were temporarily blocked off in the area as officers worked the scene. 

Asheville Police Department Officers are continuing to investigate. If anyone has any information about the incident, please contact APD at 828-252-1110, or you can send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
