Asheville Startup Weekend Announces Location and Keynote Speaker

The venue for the second annual Asheville Startup Weekend will be located at A-B Tech Community College: Enka Site 1459 Sand Hill Rd Candler, NC 28715. Asheville Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event for those wanting to learn or love the process of creating new products or services and turning it into a business.

“A-B Tech is once again thrilled to be involved in this exciting event for entrepreneurs,” Jill Sparks, Executive Director Small Business Center and Business Incubation. “One of the Business Incubation Program Graduates was on the winning team from 2012.” College students are encouraged to participate in this event for experience and will get a special discount.

Returning to Asheville for the 2nd year in a row is Global Startup Weekend’s facilitator and software entrepreneur Ramphis Castro from San Juan Puerto Rico. Castro’s history includes curating and and facilitating similar events including TEDxSanJuan, SW NEXT and Startup Digester.

Director of Platform Strategy at Mashery, Rob Zazueta, will be the keynote speaker and will be participating in a supporting role as a coach throughout the weekend.

Tickets can be purchased at the Asheville Startup Weekend website. Regular Admission is $99. The general public is encouraged to attend Sunday, October 6th to enjoy dinner with the Startup Weekend participants and watch the startup presentations for a nominal $10 fee.
