Belly Up food truck announces pay-it-forward menu item

Press release from Belly Up:

Belly Up is an Asheville food truck that is trying to embark on a new concept for feeding those who are homeless or underserved. Put One on the Board is an option for customers to pay it forward and buy a meal ticket for someone in need. This simple system allows all members of the community to order from the menu, giving those who may not have the means to pay the option to Take One off the Board.

We are encouraging Asheville to spread the word to those in need by taking a stack of handout cards from our food truck to give out when someone is asking for assistance. These cards indicate Belly Up’s location at 51 Coxe Ave. on Thursdays for lunch.

So far the reception and concept behind the Put One on the Board system has been a very enthusiastic and sustainable one. It has been amazing to see how many people in our city donate towards feeding others, and that each week as we take hundreds of dollars of donated meals off the board, it fills right back up again by the following week.

51 Coxe has been incredibly supportive of Belly Up’s endeavors. Their proximity next to the bus station has made it the perfect location to tell those who need some fiscal assistance where to come order food. They have offered their support and assistance since Belly Up started this program and have opened their establishment to all members of the community to come, sit down, and enjoy a good meal.

We hope to report only good things as the Put One on the Board program enters its first tourist season and that this concept will catch on with other local business. Stop by the truck or contact us at bellyuptruck@gmail.com for more information!
