Beyond Coal: Rally for Our Future today, Aug. 24, at Pack Square

ASHEVILLE – Asheville Beyond Coal invites the public to attend to attend a community rally for clean energy and climate action from 2-4 p.m. Saturday in Pack Square Park.

“Beyond Coal—a Rally for Our Future” is a family-friendly event that will include musical performances and information about how we can work together to protect our environment and communities from the dangers of coal, including climate disruption.

Sierra Club activist and actor Ian Somerhalder (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Lost”) will join Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy, national Beyond Coal campaign director Mary Anne Hitt, and Rev. Thomas Murphy of All Souls Episcopal to call for clean energy solutions for Asheville.

The Western North Carolina Alliance, North Carolina Interfaith Power and Light, Southwings, Riverkeeper and the Sierra Club are founding members of the Asheville Beyond Coal Coalition.
