Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County seeks toy donations through Dec. 12

Press release from the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County:

Now through Wednesday, Dec. 12, the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys for club members ages 6-11. The toys will be distributed to children through the club’s annual holiday gift program, “Santa’s Workshop.”

“For some of our members, this may be one of the few toys that they receive this holiday,” said Club Staff Member Bonnie Gibson. Ninety-two percent of club members are eligible for federal free or reduced lunch programs.

“We work constantly with partner agencies to make sure that children in need have resources for adequate food and clothing, but because toys are not viewed as a necessity, they often become an afterthought,” Gibson continued. “Individuals and businesses in our community make the holidays happen at our club every year, and we are so grateful for their support.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County serves children through programs that focus on academic success, career readiness, positive personal actions, health and fitness. An all-inclusive club membership costs just $5 per year.

To donate a new, unwrapped toy or make a monetary donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County, please call 693-9444 or bring your donation to 1304 Ashe Street, Hendersonville. The deadline for toy donations is Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.
