Press release from Buncombe County Schools:
On Sept. 17, Governor Cooper announced that North Carolina students in grades K-5 would be allowed to return for in-person classroom instruction under Plan A if a school system can do so safely beginning Monday, Oct. 5. As a reminder, the Governor’s Plan A includes:
- Minimal social distancing in classrooms;
- Enhanced cleaning protocols;
- Face coverings are required;
- Daily wellness checks for students, staff, and visitors.
We are awaiting further guidance regarding social distancing on our school buses under Plan A.
What does this mean for our school system?
The Buncombe County Schools Re-entry Steering Committee will revisit our Return to Learn strategy for grades K-5 and follow up with any possible modifications to our current Plan B Phase-In, which begins on Monday, Sept. 28, for grades K-8.
Please note, if you chose remote-only for your child, the Governor’s announcement today will NOT affect them. Your child will remain a remote-only learner until the end of the semester.
Thank you!
