Buncombe County Schools to remain under Plan B through February

Press release from Buncombe County Schools:

Video and photos from Dec. 3’s Board of Education meeting are now available.

Here’s the BCS Board Briefing for our last regular board meeting of 2020. Among the important action taken, the board voted on a Return to Learn plan. Those details are below.

Return to Learn Update (12/03/2020)

From Monday-Friday, Dec. 14-18, all students remain under Plan B, but the school day will be on regular school hours instead of the one-hour early dismissal. This plan will continue when students return from Winter Break and begin the second semester on Monday, Jan. 4. It will remain in effect for a minimum of four weeks.

Our schools will follow up with families to clarify what the new school hours will be beginning on Dec. 14.

Monday, Feb. 1:

  • All K-4 schools will remain under a Plan B schedule with adding alternating in-person instruction on Wednesdays. For example, Week One – Group A attends Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; Group B attends Thursday and Friday. Week Two – Group A attends Monday, Tuesday; Group B attends Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • Grades 5-12 and Buncombe Co. Early College (BCEC) will remain under a Plan B schedule with regular daily hours and asynchronous Wednesdays.

The intent of the board is that on Monday, March 1:

  • K-4 transitions to Plan A, 5 days a week.
