Buncombe County to offer free community overdose reversal trainings

Starting June 2, 2023, Buncombe County will offer free community overdose reversal trainings through Health and Human Services on the first Friday of every month from 12-1 p.m. The monthly, one-hour trainings will include information on opioid awareness, preventing and responding to opioid overdoses, one free Narcan kit while supplies last, linkage to community services for securing medication at home, substance use support, referral to medication assisted treatment (MAT), harm reduction, and introduction to the post-overdose response team (PORT).

The trainings will be held at the Health and Human Services building, 40 Coxe Ave., Asheville, in the conference room at the main entrance. Attendees will receive free parking validation in the deck adjacent to the building.
