Buncombe County Board of Commissioners establishes ad hoc short-term rental committee

At its Aug. 6 meeting, the Board of Commissioners established an Ad Hoc Short-Term Rental Committee. The committee will convene in September and October, and then present its recommendations to the Planning Board in November. In December, the Planning Board will present its recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.

The resolution outlined the areas of representation for the commission: real estate professionals, short-term rental property owners, affordable housing advocates, ancillary business owners, community at-large, and one or more Planning Board members.

After reviewing 112 applications from interested community members, the Board identified applicants for interviews.

They are:

  • Judy Davidson

  • Candice Matelski-Brady
  • Prabhu Kannan
  • Nancy Waldrop*
  • Kenneth Kahn*

Interviews will be held publicly; the schedule will be forthcoming.

*Denotes Planning Board members who will be automatically appointed.
