Call for artists to Jackson County Green Energy Park’s Youth Arts Festival

Press release fromĀ Jackson County Green Energy Park:

The Jackson County Green Energy Park in Dillsboro is issuing a Call for Artists to join in their 12th annual Youth Arts Festival on Saturday September 21st, from 9am till 3pm.

This much-anticipated festival brings in kids and families from across the region, with a unique focus on letting kids get their hands dirty (and their minds expanded) by creating art projects of their own. This craft-themed event typically draws well over 1,000 people, and hosts 30 – 40 artists. The festival offers artists from across western NC a chance to demonstrate their skills and share their knowledge first-hand with members of the community.

Demonstrations in years past have included glassblowing, flame working, blacksmithing and knifemaking, raku pottery, gem cutting, stained glass, and painting. Kids hands-on activities include weaving, painting, chalk art, jewelry-making, throwing clay pots and slab building, face painting, or whatever else you can dream up!

There are no booth fees for artisans, and on-site sales of handmade goods are allowed. However, artists are required to offer live demonstrations of their skills throughout the day. All hands-on activities must be free of charge, though a small stipend is available to help artists offset any material costs.

To sign up for a booth space, or for more information, contact the Green Energy Park at 828/631-0271 or email chelseamiller@jcgep.org. We hope you can join us!
