The Community Kitchen
New Building Project

Canton, NC 2016

For Immediate Release

THE COMMUNITY KITCHEN IS MOVING and we need your help! We have entered into an agreement to purchase the property at 394 Champion Drive – Better known as “The Old EZ Stop”. The 7000 sq. foot building and ample parking is just what we need to grow our ministry and service to those in need in Haywood County. Anyone who has driven by our building during Food Box Distribution knows just how much we need the increased space and parking.

To make this happen…. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! This is a huge undertaking financially and we cannot do it without your help!

“For with God nothing shall be impossible” Luke 1:37

NEW BUILDING:
Location: 394 Pisgah Drive, Canton NC 28716 “The Old EZ Stop”
Size: Approximately 7000 sqft & 1.15 acres including a residential lot behind building

The WHAT’S & the WHY’S

Dinner: In 2015 TCK served 16,672 plates total during dinner. This includes seconds and take-outs (often for those that are unable to leave their homes due to health issues, etc) The nightly average of individuals that came to sit for the meal and fellowship was 31 with numbers reaching as high as 60. Our seating capacity is 40. Even more of an issue is our parking. Most nights, patrons park down the streets causing traffic flow issues.

Food Box Distribution: TCK distributes food boxes twice a month. In 2015 TCK handed out 2,333 boxes of food. This is a 46 percent increase from 2014. Distribution occurs the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. An average of 97 boxes are handed out during that time. Parking is not available for those numbers, so cars are lined up and down the streets.

In both programs, there are times that individuals have been unable to find parking and left without the services and help they needed.

Next Steps – Raising the FUNDS!

$20,000 in 30 days towards the purchase of the building

$100,000 basic renovations & moving the kitchen operations/equipment

Future Plans

The new location will provide ample space for parking, Food Box Distribution and nearly double our seating capacity for dinner. There will also be space for classrooms so we may grow our ministry and service to our community.
