Press release

One of the largest regional fundraisers supporting hospice is not a gala, black tie dinner, or celebrity event; rather, it’s a volunteer-driven project that requires hundreds of rolls of wrapping paper, countless spools of tape, and boxes upon boxes of bows, ribbon, and gift tags.

Each year, hundreds of volunteer gift wrappers help man the CarePartners Foundation booth, lovingly wrapping gifts in exchange for modest donations from passing shoppers. Now in its 22nd year, the CarePartners Foundation gift wrap booth raises tens of thousands for hospice care in our community.

This year, the gift wrap booth will be located in the food court at the newly-renovated Asheville Outlets. Over 300 community volunteers are needed to help make this event a success! Most volunteer shifts are just three hours, and offer the opportunity to give back over the holiday season.

“This is something most anyone can do,” says Amanda Cantrell, volunteer chair for this year’s gift wrap project. “If you’re looking for a way to help people in need over this holiday season, we hope you’ll consider signing up for a few shifts.”

Sign up is quick and easy via an online scheduling system that allows volunteers to choose the date and time that works best for them. For those that might be unsure of their wrapping skills, CarePartners Foundation is holding a volunteer appreciation and training event in the Asheville Outlets food court on November 16 at 5 pm. Dinner will be provided, and the event is a way to bring volunteers together, recognize their service, and kickoff the gift wrap project.

All funds raised through the gift wrap booth at Asheville Outlets help to bring comfort, reduce fears, and make a difference in the lives of patients facing life-limiting illness, as well as their loved ones. These funds help bridge the gap between the level of care covered by insurance and the outstanding, family-centered care CarePartners Hospice is committed to providing. It also means that services for which there is no traditional reimbursement source – like those for grieving children, bereavement counseling, and indigent care – are able to continue.
