CARING for Children looks for community Secret Santas

Press release from CARING For Children:

The holidays can be a tough time for a child in the Foster Care system. While other kids are looking forward to fun family activities and receiving lots of gifts, many of CARING for Children’s foster children are left to wonder why they can’t be together with their own families. Some are too young to understand that abuse and neglect don’t mean love and just want to be home for the holidays. Others are older but have lowered their expectations for a “Merry Christmas.”

CARING for Children is looking for some good-hearted citizens to play Secret Santa to 150 kids and 10 families right here in Western North Carolina!

We’re currently getting the children in our foster care program and each of our residential group homes to make out a Christmas Wish List. These kids range in age from 1-month old to 21 years. In addition, we have approximately 10 underpriveleged families who need your help to have a nice holiday.

Once we receive the children’s completed Wish lists (early November) we’ll need Secret Santas (sponsors) to can go shopping or provide financially for some or all of the items requested by each child.

Secret Santa gifts will need to be delivered no later than December 18th to the CARING for Children offices at:  50 Reddick Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.

If you’re interested in helping make a child’s Christmas wish come true, please email HolidayProject@Caring4Children.org or call (828)785-1590 and our friendly staff of elves will answer any questions and/or get you started with a wish list from one of our youth.

Just think of the hope and holiday joy you’ll bring this Christmas season to one of our kids! If you have any questions, please email HolidayProject@Caring4Children.org .
