Carolina Cares to serve free meals in Hendersonville Oct. 22

Press release from Carolina Cares:

Greenville, SC (October 21, 2024) – Carolina Cares, a Greenville-based fundraiser, is excited to announce its upcoming event in Hendersonville, NC, providing free hot meals by Papi’s Tacos to local residents affected by Hurricane Helene.

Thanks to the overwhelming support at its recent fundraiser, where over $17,000 was raised, Carolina Cares will travel from Greenville to serve 1,000 meals in Hendersonville and surrounding communities on October 22, 2024.

The event, hosted at St. Gerard House located at 620 Oakland St., Hendersonville, will offer 500 free meals between 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Each meal includes two tacos, chips, and salsa, served to-go style. Additionally, another 500 meals will be boxed and distributed to nearby areas still recovering from the hurricane. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the event, dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated.

“We are inspired by our friends in Greenville who gathered together to help us raise the funds we needed to travel to Hendersonville to assist St. Gerard House. We’re proud to bring these meals to the community as part of our ongoing effort to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene,” said Tabitha Skipper, organizer of Carolina Cares. The remaining funds will be used to assist the Hispanic Alliance distribute meals in Upstate, SC.

Those in the Hendersonville Community in need of a hot meal are invited to attend the community event hosted by St. Gerard House and Carolina Cares on October 22nd.
