Press release

On Wednesday, September 23rd, Chai Pani will be celebrating its 6th anniversary. (Has it really been 6 years since we first opened our doors?) We always see our anniversary as an opportunity to give back to our customers, the people who’ve made this dream of ours come true.

For the occasion, we’ll be bringing a special treat straight from the streets of Bombay– pani puri. For those who aren’t familiar with it, pani puri is a very popular street snack in India where a small, hollow, golf ball sized crisp called a puri is stuffed with various fillings like potato, onion, and chickpeas and then dunked in a flavorful water of tamarind chutney, mint, chaat masala, and other ingredients. The whole thing is meant to be popped in one bite and results in a snack experience unlike any other: a crunchy, liquid explosion of savory flavor.

Additionally, we’ll be blessing the masses with another super popular Indian street snack that we are really excited about and don’t normally have on the menu: Chicken Tikka and Paneer Tikka Frankies, hand-held Indian rolls wrapped with delicious flakey paratha bread – a sort of flattened Indian croissant, if you will, that is sinfully delicious.

To top it all off and make sure we have a party worthy of our 6-year anniversary, we’ve rented a dual slushie machine and we’ll have them all day, in tamarind cola and lime ricky flavors – available with or without booze. We’re not really sure how slushies fit in as Indian street food, but hey, it’s our party and we’ll slush if we want to.

Be sure to stop by and get another look at the Indian street cuisine we’re so passionate about.

We love you Asheville, thanks for all your support throughout the years!
