Press release from City of Asheville
Asheville City Manager, Debra Campbell, is pleased to announce that Stephanie Monson Dahl has been promoted to the position of Planning and Urban Design Director.
During her eighteen year tenure with the City, Dahl has demonstrated leadership in urban planning across many disciplines, including economic development, housing, land use, transportation, capital project planning, and parks and public spaces. She has a strong track record of successfully implementing long-term and strategic plans and for developing partnerships that diversify funding sources for City projects.
“The role of Planning and Urban Design Director is extremely important,” City Manager Debra Campbell said. “We are confident that Stephanie will continue to build on the strengths of her team, and deepen the positive working relationships that Planning and Urban Design has with other City departments and the community.”
Dahl will be leading a newly restructured Planning and Urban Design Department. As of July 1 of this year, the department now includes 24 employees.
“I am so excited to take on this opportunity to continue to help make the Asheville community a better place for everyone,” Dahl said. “It’s an honor to work beside the City’s talented and committed Planning and Urban Design team as we tackle multiple complex challenges together.”
