Hello RAD Stakeholders,

Preconstruction activities in the RAD continue. We are committed to consistently communicating with you on the work being done, changes to the schedule and any known traffic impacts.  A construction and closures map is available at www.ashevillenc.gov/river. Riverside Dr. Road Safety

Duke Energy and PSNC have been conducting utility relocation work along the Riverside Dr. corridor between 12 Bones and Craven St. This morning as the crew was working, a hole was discovered underneath the road across from Old Wood and Cotton Mill Studio. If this hole is not filled it could undermine the stability of the road. The City and utility partners reviewed plans to determine the best way to repair the road.

The crews on the ground have determined that a full road closure is not needed at this time. They are working to repair the road with one closed lane. Traffic will be delayed, but still able to pass through on Riverside Dr. We anticipate crews working late into the evening and tomorrow to complete these road repairs.

City staff and utility partners are working to ensure the area remains safe and open. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to make these infrastructure improvements.

Traffic Impact Map

The City has created an interactive map that shows you anticipated lane and road closures, parking access and utility relocation impacts by parcel. See this information here.
