On July 4, 2022 Asheville City offices will be closed in celebration of Independence Day. Some City services will be impacted. Please see the complete list below of City services below.
Parks & Recreation
- All parks are open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
- Pools are open from 12-6 p.m., weather permitting.
- Community centers, administrative offices and summer camps are closed.
Splasheville, the splash pad in Pack Square Park, will be open 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m., closing early to accommodate the Ingles Independence Day celebration’s final music performances.
Households with sensory sensitive family members and pets are advised that the firework show begins between 9:15-9:30 p.m. and will last for about 20 minutes.
Transit
Asheville Rides Transit (ART) will operate Holiday Service hours on all routes on Monday, July 4, 2022, for Independence Day.

There will be no trash/recycling collection on Monday, July 4th and Sanitation offices will be closed.
Sanitation will operate Tuesday – Friday and all collection services will be postponed by one day.
Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville
The venue will be closed on Monday, July 4th. The HCCA Box Office hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities
The WNC Nature Center, Aston Park Tennis Center and Asheville Municipal Golf Course are all open for regular hours on Monday, July 4th.
Emergency Services
All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Water Resources staff will be available for water related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday weekend. Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls.
Street Closures
The following streets will be closed at the listed dates:
- 7/3 at 8 a.m. until 7/5 at 1 a.m.: N Pack Square
- 7/4 at 8 a.m. until 7/5 at 1 a.m.: Court Plaza, Spruce Street between Court Plaza and College, Market between Court Plaza and College Street
- 7/4 at 6 p.m. until 1 a.m.: N Spruce viewing area closure
