City of Asheville to offer free organic lawn care workshop

From City of Asheville:

City of Asheville to offer free organic lawn care workshop

As a matter of practice, the City of Asheville does not use pesticides, herbicides or any other harmful chemicals. And as part of continuous improvement, the City is bringing in two experts in organic lawn and garden management for a staff training session.

While they are here, the City will offer a separate workshop, free and open to the public. Beyond Pesticides: Organic Lawn Care will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Lenoir Rhyne University Graduate Studies office, 36 Montford Ave. (second flood boardroom above the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce).

This free workshop focuses on how to get and maintain beautiful landscaping without the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from the nation’s expert on natural lawn and turf care!

Workshop facilitators are two nationally recognized leaders in the field of organic lawn care: Chip Osborne, president of Osborne Organics, and Jay Feldman, founder of Beyond Pesticides.

This workshop is presented by Asheville Parks & Recreation in partnership with Beyond Pesticides, the Asheville Alternatives to Pesticides Coalition and Toxic Free NC. For more information, call the Parks & Recreation Department at 828-259-5800 or Beyond Pesticides at 202-543-5450.
