Update: Code Purple called for Saturday, Nov. 12 through Monday Nov. 14

Press release from Asheville Homeless Coalition

The Asheville Homeless Coalition is calling a Code Purple alert from Saturday, Nov. 12 to Monday, Nov. 14.

Code Purple is an activation of emergency services including shelters and county paramedic when temperature drops  to around 32 degrees F.

Temperatures this weekend will be at 32 degrees or lower. Please be safe.

The current Code Purple shelters are:

For men:

Veterans Restoration Quarters
1329 Tunnel Rd

For single women and women with children:

ABCCM Transformation Village 828- 259-5365
30 Olin Haven Way
Women, children, veterans with screening process

ABCCM SHUTTLE BUS LEAVES FROM 24 CUMBERLAND AVE AT 4PM FOR SHELTERS.

SALVATION ARMY NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME

Transportation is available for free during Code Purple at the ART Bus Station 49 Coxe Ave. 828-253-5691. Schedules, maps and passes at the office. See map for fare free zone downtown. www.ridetheart.com

FREE TRANSPORT ON THE ART BUSES TO SHELTERS ON  CODE PURPLE DAYS DURING THESE TIMES:  3:20 p.m. to 6 p.m. , and the next morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
