Scott’s workshop is geared towards preparing participants to tell their personal stories in an engaging, effective manner, via the introduction of practical tools and techniques, open discussion with the group, and fun, pressure-free participatory activities designed to illustrate and practice with key concepts. We will explore the process of mining our life experience, identifying the seeds of story, and structuring and framing for the stage. No experience necessary. The atmosphere is ultra-encouraging and provides a space in which failure is impossible. Writers welcome, but you don’t need to put a single word on the page in order to tell a killer tale. Walk in with only a willingness to share, and leave with a piece on its way to becoming crafted for performance.
After Scott’s 2 hour workshop, David Joe Miller will spend around an hour working with participants on marketing and promoting yourself as a storyteller, creating and promoting your brand and working with producers and venues. He’ll offer stratigies and tools he’s used in his 28 year career as a professional storyteller. David Joe brings an extensive background in marketing and sales to the community of storytelling and has been able to call upon that background to creat a very successful storytelling career, a full-time storytelling career. He’ll share this journey with you and offer tips to success.
