Delta Kappa Gamma “Gifts” beginning teachers

Press release

from Delta Kappa Gamma society

As budget constraints once again effect school systems, three area chapters of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society of Women Educators stepped forward to help beginning teachers. Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society of educators world-wide. This organization created and implemented an initiative for early-career educators through the work of area chapters.

The Alpha Chi, Alpha Phi, and Gamma chapters met on Saturday, October 20th, to create bags of supplies and goodies for 98 first year teachers in Buncombe County and 38 first year teachers in Madison and Asheville City Schools.

These three chapters represent women educators in Buncombe, Henderson, and Madison counties. The school supplies and goodies were a compilation of donations from TD Bank, PENC, David Gantt and the members themselves, all of whom are current or former educators. This donation compilation is an annual event from these chapters who work hard to help those starting out in this important profession.
