The Democratic Women of Henderson County have announced they will host attorney Gayle L. Kemp as a special guest speaker on Tuesday, November 10, beginning at 6 p.m. at Three Chopt Sandwich Shoppe in Hendersonville. Kemp will give a lecture entitled “Reasonable or Excessive Use of Force,” focused on police violence and citizen rights.
Kemp, who graduated Juris Doctor from Lansing, Michigan’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School, has previously served as Associate Attorney General at the North Carolina Justice Academy, Adjunct Instructor at Jackson Community College, where she taught civil procedure, administrative law, business law and contracts, and has extensive experience in developing training materials and instructing students on legal issues.
The event is part of the monthly meeting series of the Democratic Women of Henderson County. A reception and social period will precede the lecture, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Kemp is a Licensed Attorney with experience in developing training materials and teaching legal issues at the college level and with experience in criminal litigation and civil litigation. From 2008 to 2015, she was Associate Attorney General at the North Carolina Justice Academy. The Academy’s staff trains thousands of criminal justice personnel throughout the state at two campuses located in Salemburg and Edneyville.
In Michigan, Ms. Kemp was Adjunct Instructor at Jackson Community College where she taught civil procedure, administrative law, business law and contracts. Throughout her career, she has held numerous similar positions of increasing importance. Ms. Kemp graduated Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Arts from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
