Environmental Candidate Forum Hosting County/State Candidates

(HENDERSONVILLE, NC, April 2, 2012) –– A candidate forum hosted by ECO, the Environmental and Conservation Organization is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3rd which will include all candidates for Henderson County Board of Commissioners as well as many candidates vying for State Representative and Senate seats. The forum will give the candidates the opportunity to discuss their views on protecting rural character, conserving the county’s natural resources and maintaining water quality. Currently two Henderson County Board of Commissioner seats are up for election and there are competitive races for the State Senate and State Representative.

At 6 PM on April 3rd, residents will have the opportunity to “meet and greet” the candidates over light snacks and the forum will begin at 7 PM. Interested residents are invited to bring their environmental questions and become better educated on the issues and the candidates’ concerns.

According to ECO Executive Director, David Weintraub, “The environment often takes a backseat to economic and business concerns. However, the environment has everything to do with public health, economic health and creating and retaining jobs. This forum should help folks better understand how well the candidates can connect the dots that help us create a more sustainable community that protects us all.”

The ECO Candidate Forum is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3rd with a Candidate “Meet and Greet” at 6:00 PM and a forum at 7:00 PM at the City of Hendersonville Operations Center located at 305 Williams Street off of 4th Avenue East in Hendersonville.
