Evergreen offers professional development for teachers, homeschoolers

From Evergreen Community Charter School:

Asheville – Evergreen Community Charter School is hosting a professional development opportunity on October 28, 2013 on the topic of student engagement. Faculty, administrators and homeschool parents are invited.

At Evergreen, on a daily basis, teachers are engaging students in project-based, rigorous lessons that address the Common Core. This professional development opportunity will allow visitors to observe classrooms, attend workshops hosted by Evergreen’s teaching staff and co-planning opportunities with other area teachers. Continuing Education Units (.5) are awarded and attendees will leave with ideas of how to increase student engagement with project-based learning, thematic instruction, inquiry-based lessons, increased cognitive rigor, differentiation in the classroom and more.

See www.evergreenccs.org for registration information. The fee is a sliding scale of $50-$100.

Evergreen’s commitment to environmental education and providing healthy learning spaces earned a 2012 Green Ribbon School designation from the U.S. Department of Education. Evergreen is one of 17 schools nation-wide selected to be an Expeditionary Learning Mentor School for its dedication to student success through academic achievement, character development and high quality work.
