Finding Home Project shares personal stories, policy agenda on Asheville affordable housing

Press release from Thrive Asheville:

On Sunday, May 16 at 6 p.m., Thrive Asheville and partners will gather virtually for a Folding Chair panel discussion and networking event that will center affordable housing. The event will be hosted by Aisha Adams Media and the Lenoir-Rhyne Equity and Diversity Institute and is free and open to all members of the public. (Register here).

At the event, Thrive will share first-person stories of people caught in the affordable housing crisis. In partnership with Aisha Adams Media and Children First/Communities in Schools of Buncombe County, Thrive will also launch a community policy agenda that addresses housing challenges faced by much of the city’s population, from voucher holders to renters to aspiring homeowners.

These policy recommendations have been informed by Finding Home: Recommendations for Affordable, Healthy, and Connected Places for Families, a survey of 150+ prospective homeowners, renters and voucher holders to better understand the challenges and opportunities for affordable housing and home ownership in the Asheville area.
