Fletcher Arts Storytelling Series at Feed and Seed

Feed and Seed Story Arts Series presents its final program for 2015 on Saturday November 21, at 4:00 featuring professional storyteller, singer, writer, teaching artist and retreat leader, Donna Marie Todd. The Feed and Seed series was founded by Karen-Eve Bayne Pfotzer in conjunction with The Fletcher Arts and Heritage Association and STEAP, Inc, the storytelling education and arts program. The series is funded by the Arts Council of Henderson County and sponsored by Feed and Seed. Elena Diana Miller is story director for the program.

Donna Marie Todd, “The Singer of Stories,” is a multi-faceted entertainer who delivers perfectly crafted performances that combine her talents as a writer, storyteller and singer. Her storytelling performances are filled with vivid images of fascinating people and places, beautiful music and laughter. Her professional training was earned at Peabody Conservatory of Music. Her theatre experience includes a starring role in a PBS television series, summer stock, regional theatres, radio, film, television, and an improvisational comedy company, which she founded. She is editor of the Biblical Storyteller Magazine for the Network of Biblical Storytellers. She performs at leading storytelling festivals, corporate events, spiritual retreats, schools and music conferences and conducts one to two day retreat workshops for churches and community centers. Karen –Eve (Bayne) Pfotzer, a storyteller for many years in this country, DC, NYC, and the UK, where she was employed in international business, an executive with The London Philharmonic Orchestra, and teller as “Midnight Story Tellers” of England. She holds degrees in sociology, psychology and theology from UNCA, INSEAD (France) and Trinity College (UK). Experienced in many cultures she tells stories for our time, which engages audiences to reflection, recognition, and action. From the ancient forests of the old world to the mountains of Appalachia she brings new life and emotions to folklore and legend. She founded STEAP, storytelling education and arts program and Do Tell Story Fest. Aside from being a motivational speaker and workshop facilitator, she crafts specialty fiber art scarves and wall hangings, which reveal botanical and cellular designs. Elena Diana Miller, Story Director of The Feed and Seed Arts Series, performed with Academy Shakespeare Repertory Theatre in Atlanta, Tanglewood Children’s Theatre, ACT, Brevard Theatre, Nashville Network sitcom, Radio Free Europe, Peter Seller’s movie, “Being There,” and many others. She has a bachelor’s degree in theatre, education and English from UNCA and a Master’s degree in literature, education and English with Graduate Teaching Certificate from Furman University. For many years she performed as a National Park Service Interpretive Ranger presenting programs St Louis Gateway Arch, Grand Canyon, and Carl Sandburg Home NHS. She won the prestigious National Parks and Conservation Freeman Tilden Award for “Best Performing Arts Program in Parks” for her dynamic programs, creation of Carl Sandburg Home’s “Christmas at Connemara,” and founding Carl Sandburg Annual Folk Story and Music Festival. She currently performs with the Arts Council of Henderson County in the artist in schools program.
They are members of Asheville Story Circle, Stories on Asheville’s Front Porch, North Carolina Story Guild, National Story Network, and International Biblical Storytellers.
