Folkwear opens first store location

Folkwear, a well-known independent sewing pattern company and clothing brand, has a opened a shop in Fairview, NC in May 2019.  The shop, located at 1185 Charlotte Hwy (Unit G), stocks Folkwear sewing patterns, a clothing line, and fabric, and it houses the international office and shipping center of Folkwear.  The shop will be open from 9 am to 3 pm weekdays, and from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays, starting in June.
Folkwear will host an open house at the store on June 7 from 4 to 6 pm and on June 8 from 10 am to 3 pm.  The open house will allow customers to see the new space, view the hundreds of historic and international garment samples, and shop for patterns, fabric, and clothing.  Short lectures on the historic garments from around the world will be on June 8 at 11 am and 2 pm.  Molly Hamilton, Folkwear owner and manager, commented “We are very excited to be in a new space where we can welcome our customers, and continue to design, create, and ship our patterns and clothing.  We are looking forward to this new step.”
Folkwear patterns are used by individuals who love to sew their own unique clothing, as well as theatre costume designers, historical reenactors, and fashion and textile instructors.  Folkwear sells patterns to retail clients from their website and new store front, and wholesales patterns to over 100 shops and stores worldwide.  Folkwear now also sells a small range of ready-to-wear clothes based on their sewing patterns.
Folkwear: For over 40 years, Folkwear has created and sold unique sewing patterns to create historic clothing and clothing from cultures from around the world.  Located in the Asheville area, Folkwear is owned by Molly Hamilton.
