Former Sen. Jim Broyhill endorses Mark Meadows in 11th District race

PRESS RELEASE (From MeadowsForCongress)
Former US Senator and Congressman Jim Broyhill announced today that he is endorsing Mark Meadows for Congress in the 11th District run off on July 17. Sen. Broyhill is one of North Carolina’s longest serving U.S. Representatives and is highly respected as one of the state’s most influential members of the Republican Party. Today Senator Broyhill asked voters to back Meadows in the runoff. He said Meadows is the type of conservative, Christian businessman needed in Washington.

“Having been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives 12 times, I have some experience with the quality of leaders we need in Washington that will truly represent the values of Western North Carolina, and Mark Meadows is that type of leader,” said Sen. Broyhill. “Mark Meadows has the business experience and principled determination to make an outstanding United States Congressman. Having represented much of the new parts of the 11th District, I understand the needs and concerns of that area and I strongly urge voters in the areas where I served, such as Caldwell and Burke counties, to turn out in force for Mark Meadows.”

Sen. Broyhill said Meadows is by far the best candidate to take on Hayden Rogers and the Democrats in November. Sen. Broyhill represented much of the Foothills region of the state in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1963 to 1986, and finished his career in Washington in the United States Senate. Broyhill won reelection 12 times and also served as Chairman of the North Carolina Economic Development Commission and then as the state’s Secretary of Commerce.

Meadows said he is humbled to have Senator Broyhill’s support.

“I am very grateful for Senator Broyhill’s endorsement,” stated Meadows. “His support of conservative causes is legendary, and we both understand that lower taxes and less regulation are the only way to improve the economy. He is a true Statesman, and I appreciate his support very much.”

Meadows is a fiscal and social conservative who has served on numerous boards and was recently appointed to the State Board for Economic Development in Western North Carolina, because of his expertise in business and job creation. He is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, a Christian conservative, and a champion of “Life, Liberty, and Less Government.” To find out more, go to www.MeadowsForCongress.com
