Fundraising run on Aug. 20 to help veterans at VA Medical Center

Press release from Buncombe County Concerned Bikers Association:

The 16th annual Veterans Appreciation Day and Poker Run will be held Saturday August 20th, 2016. Presented by the Buncombe County Concerned Bikers Association and held at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, this event has raised almost $20,000 over the past four years, and 100% of the money collected goes to help the veterans that reside at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

This is definitely not a motorcycle only event; in the past classic and sports cars have joined us on the Poker Run, and anyone may come by the VA and buy their entire poker hand there. This year our starting location will be Kounty Line Shell Reynolds, 204 Charlotte Hwy. Asheville NC 28815 and the 43 mile route will travel across NC Scenic Byways, cross the Eastern Continental Divide twice, and pass by the NC Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain before ending up (as always) at the VA Medical Center 1100 Tunnel Road in Asheville. The first bike out of the Kounty Line at 9:00 AM, the last bike out by noon; events will begin at the VA about 10:30. There will be event tee shirts, live music, people and bike games, a great hot dog lunch, and most importantly, a chance to hang out with and thank our veterans.
