Gaia Herbs, an herbal supplement leader for more than 25 years, is opening their doors to the public on June 29, 2013 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. “Connecting plants and people” is the mission of Gaia Herbs and this open house is one way of connecting people with knowledge about medicinal herbs, what laboratory testing is done, and how herbs ultimately become a supplement in a bottle at your local health food store.
Two types of farm tours will be offered. A 90 minute tour around the farm will provide information about the medicinal herbs on the farm, organic growing methods, and a look at the different stages of development – from starting seeds in greenhouses to harvest methods. Attendees may either ride or walk alongside a hay wagon for this tour, which is offered four times during the day.
The second type of farm tour is a three-hour walking tour with the Founder and CEO of Gaia Herbs, Ric Scalzo. Ric will share his decades of knowledge about medicinal herbs and answer questions from attendees. This intensive tour gives a deeper level of knowledge about herbalism and the principles of why organic farming is used on the farm. This tour is offered only once during the day, at 9:30am. Hay wagon vehicle support is not offered with this tour.
Facility Tours will also be offered four times during the day. Gaia Herbs utilizes unique manufacturing practices and equipment to create herbal supplements. During this 90 minute tour, people will see equipment used to create herbal products of purity, integrity and potency and have the process described by Production and Laboratory managers.
