Golden Fleece restaurant closes

Press release from JNK Public Relations:

The Giorgios Hospitality Group announces this week the lease for Golden Fleece was not renewed, and expired August 31st. Golden Fleece was tucked away in the rolling mountains of Grovewood Village near The Grove Park Inn – a celebration of the seasons and the rich bounty grown in Appalachia, influenced by Giorgios Bakatsais’ Mediterranean heritage.  “This was such a magical place, led by the extremely talented Chef George Delidimos. We’re heartbroken to not renew the lease, but also promise to be back serving this incredible community again,” explained Bakatsias.

Golden Fleece opened in March 2016 as the first GHG restaurant in Asheville, and was instantly endeared to the community.  A glowing review in the Asheville Citizen-Times said, “Asheville may have Greek, it may have upscale Mediterranean, but Golden Fleece sets itself apart in the way that it feels more connected to its ingredients.” Zagat named it among the “8 Hottest Restaurants and Bars in Asheville,” National Geographic Travel recognized it in its “Food Lover’s Guide to Asheville” and Southern Living spotlighted it, too.

“After many joyful years in the romantic fairytale house, one of the most magical places I have enjoyed designing and visiting, the lease ends August 31st. We decided not to renew at this point. We are eternally grateful and send wishes of love, health, and gratitude to the amazing community of Ashville, our landlord, the artist community in the village, our loyal staff, and each and every guest. Ashville has a loving culture and responsible community, and we adored being part of it, and look forward to returning in the future!”
Much love grace and gratitude,
Giorgios Bakatsias
