Good Friday foot care clinic

Press release from Western Carolina Rescue Ministries:

(Asheville, NC) On Friday, April 15, from 11:00am-1:00pm Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM) will host their annual “Walk Humbly Foot Care Clinic”.  Clients will have their feet washed and cared for, as well as receive shoes, socks and foot care products. This event truly allows our supporters to serve its most vulnerable clients as Jesus served us. This clinic provides spiritual, emotional, physical, and medical support for those in need. “We count it as an honor to have the opportunity to serve those that come to us. We truly believe we are called to love the least the most.” says Micheal Woods, Executive Director.

For many homeless individuals, walking is often the only means of transportation.  Without adequate shoes, mobility is severely limited.  In addition to providing comfort and protection from the environment, shoes help prevent a variety of foot related medical ailments. Having a good pair of shoes often results in an enhanced quality of life and improved self-confidence. In some cases, this has led to employment and bettered living conditions.   (https://www.shoesforthehomeless.net/mission-and-vision)

The event takes place at WCRM located at 225 Patton Avenue. Volunteers from Elevation Church, First Baptist Church Burnsville, Advent Health, Appalachian Mountain Community Health Centers, Excel College and WCRM will join us this year. Following the event, WCRM will prepare and serve its annual Easter Banquet from 4:30-5:30pm.  This meal is completely free of charge and will consist of a traditional Easter dinner prepared by Chef Antoine of Western Carolina Rescue Ministries.
