Graduation exercise night for AFD’s newest members, April 6

Press release from City of Asheville:

After more than 6 months of training that was both mentally and physically challenging, 18 new AFD recruits from the 92nd academy will graduate and join forces online with other firefighters who currently serve the Asheville community.  April 6th marks hands-on graduation night for these members and it will include numerous scenarios, from small to large scale, simulating a very busy night on shift at a fire station.

The training will be held at the Buncombe County Emergency Services Training Center and will start around 4:00 p.m.  New recruits will be put to the test by responding to a variety of calls throughout the night from medical, to motor vehicle wrecks, to fire, to high angle rescues and much more!

Members from AFD, the BC Emergency Services Training Center, BC Emergency Management, BC Emergency Operations Center, and the BC EMS will be working throughout the night as well helping to create reality for these scenarios.  With very little rest time, new recruits will constantly respond to calls throughout the night until 5:00 a.m.Thursday morning.  This high-energy graduation night will be full of challenges testing the skills and teamwork of these new recruits.

GRADUATION EXERCISE NIGHT
Date: April 6 into April 7

Time: Scenarios begin at 4:00p.m.
Location: BC Emergency Training Center, 20 Canoe Lane, Asheville, NC 28804
