According to the Hendersonville Times-News, The future of the Green River area took center stage Monday during the Henderson County Board of Commissioners meeting with the launch of the county’s fourth community plan.
Commissioners approved a slightly modified boundary map and a charter for the Green River, Tuxedo and Zirconia community plan, established in 2004 as part of the county’s 2020 Comprehensive Plan. As part of the county 2020 plan, the county is creating smaller, comprehensive plans for the county’s unincorporated areas. Plans for Dana, Etowah-Horse Shoe and Edneyville have already been completed.
The county is now accepting applications for membership on a nine-member committee that will guide the planning process, which is expected to take about 18 to 24 months, county Planning Director Anthony Starr said. Commissioners will appoint the committee members, and Board Chairman Tommy Thompson said he would like to see a “very diverse group of individuals” representing a “good cross-section” of the community, including farmers, full-time residents, landowners and members of the significant summer camp community.
