Press release from Asheville GreenWorks:
The staff and volunteers of longtime environmental nonprofit Asheville GreenWorks are known for getting down and dirty – whether it’s cleaning up litter and trash from city streets, digging tree pits or pulling filthy tires out of the French Broad River.
But the fifth annual Root Ball is a chance to get down in a different way – with a dance party!
The Asheville GreenWorks Root Ball, 6:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23rd, at the new City of Asheville Arts and Culture Center at 14 Riverside Drive, down on the French Broad River, is an evening to celebrate the accomplishments of GreenWorks’ 3,000 volunteers.
“We work hard all year long, planting trees and picking up litter,” said GreenWorks Executive Director Dawn Chávez. “It’s time to take off our waders and kick up our heels in honor of those working to keep Asheville clean and green.”
Tickets are now on sale for an evening that will include:
• Delicious soul food prepared by Cooking with Comedy with meat from Hickory Nut Gap Farms and tempeh from Smiling Hara
• Live musical entertainment
