Halfway to HempX at New Mountain AVL

From a press release from HempX Asheville:

HempX Asheville is pleased to announce “Halfway to HempX,” an educational event featuring Colorado’s Hemp Road Trip Bus and hemp farming expert Mike Lewis. Halfway to HempX will take place at New Mountain AVL beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 18th.

In October 2015, The North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation that will allow farmers in the state to grow industrial hemp for the first time in 70 years. “Halfway to HempX” is a smaller event to continue the conversation about the many challenges ahead as North Carolina begins to form its pilot program.

The Expo is free and open to the public from 3 pm until 8 pm. Attendees can climb aboard the Hemp Road Trip Bus; network with vendors like Fifth Season Gardening, Green Remedy, Spiritex, and The NC Industrial Hemp Association; and participate in a series of informative presentations. The only ticketed portion of the event will be a DJ set by Deejay Scientist, the touring DJ for Atlanta’s Ying Yang Twins. The show starts at 8:00 pm, tickets are seven dollars in advance and ten dollars at the door. This is an 18+ show and all proceeds will go to help fund the NC Industrial Hemp Commission, which will oversee the state’s proposed pilot program.

The inaugural, two-day HempX festival took place in September of 2015 and is a collaboration between Adapt, Highland Brewing Company and Asheville Event Co. The second annual HempX Asheville will take place August 19th and 20th at Highland Brewing Company.
