Hanukkah Tonight

Press release from Chabad House:

We are bringing in the 8-day holiday of Chanukah as a community, at Chanukah Live, today, Thursday, December 7th, 6:00 PM at the Asheville JCC, 236 Charlotte Street. Thank you to the local Jewish participating organizations for coming together in unity to create light. Participating organizations are listed on the invite below.

Jews the world over couldn’t be more ready to see the light and experience the miracles, than we are this year. If the message of Chanukah was important in the past, it is truly as relevant, and even stronger at this time. Chanukah’s message of good over evil and creating light in the darkness is both the signature secret, and the absolute strength of the Jewish people. It has been our answer to everything around us for generations, and it is the answer to the world we live in today. It has been our call and mission since the dawn of time, and it will remain so for eternity.

In 2006, Chabad’s driving mission for Chanukah was to Create Light in the WNC mountains. We printed the words “Create Light” on the t-shirts for the first ever Chanukah Live event at the Montford Center. The theme “Create Light” is printed again on the photobooth stamp for tonight’s event in 2023, where each participant will be able to go home and hang up a picture celebrating Chanukah. It is our hope that this photo will serve as a reminder of our daily mission as the Jewish people, to create light and share our light, 365 days a year.

On behalf of the dedicated staff at Chabad, our annual donors and partners, and the volunteers and sponsors for this evening, we wish you a very happy Chanukah. May the lights of the Menorah brighten and warm up your homes, our community, and this entire world! May their message of light over darkness, and religious freedom over oppression ring true for all who are fortunate to see and share the light. May we see the blessings of the hand of Hashem in our lives, and may we experience personal and collective light and miracles as a nation.
