Haywood County observes compliance with COVID-19 visitor registration

Press release from Haywood County:

Haywood County is operating a helpline to address concerns about COVID-19. Many calls are about the virus or the county’s stay-at-home proclamation. Others who call are reporting their entry into the county.

According to the proclamation any lodging facilities with rentals less than one month shall be closed. Visitors and property owners traveling into the county, such as those returning to a seasonal home, are required to register with the county’s public health department. They are also required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The helpline staff are pleased to share that a large number individuals are complying with this requirement. In addition to taking the callers information, assistance is offered finding grocery delivery and garbage pickup for the duration of the visitor’s quarantine.

Callers are thanked for their cooperation and assistance in keeping the community safe and healthy. The helpline may be reached at (828) 356-2019 seven days a week from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Calls that are medical in nature will be addressed by a registered nurse.
