Haywood County Public Library opens all branches

Press release from the Haywood County Public Library:

Beginning Monday, May 3rd, all libraries will be open with limited hours and expanded services. For the safety of staff and the public, masks are still mandatory for those 5 years and older.

  • Waynesville & Canton: Monday 9am-6pm
  • Waynesville & Canton: Tuesday-Friday 9am-1pm
  • Fines Creek: Wednesday 9am-5pm
  • Maggie Valley: Thursday 9am-5pm

Public computers are available on a first come, first serve basis. Copying, printing, faxing, and limited public seating are available. Programs for all ages are virtual and available on the Haywood County YouTube channel, the library’s Facebook page, and on the library website – https://www.haywoodlibrary.org/.

Children under 15 must be with a supervising adult at all times in buildings and on library grounds. For those who are not ready to visit inside or who cannot wear a mask over the mouth and nose, curbside pickup is available during opening hours at Canton and Waynesville – call when you arrive.

According to Library Director Kathy Vossler, “We are very pleased to reopen all branch libraries to the public and expect to continue to expand operating hours and library services.”

Those with obvious signs of sickness should not come to the libraries and those who cannot wear a mask are encouraged to use curbside services at Waynesville & Canton for pickup of physical materials. Place holds online from home using the Catalog link on the library’s webpage:  http://haywood.nccardinal.org/eg/opac/home. Allow 24 hours for staff to pull holds and have them ready for pick up.

For assistance with placing holds, call the Waynesville branch at 828-452-5169 or the Canton branch at 828-648-2924. Book drops at all branches are open 24/7 for the timely return of materials. Check due dates one of three ways: log into your library account at https://haywood.nccardinal.org/eg/opac/home, download the cloudLibrary app, or call 828.452.5169.

Access the library’s website at https://www.haywoodlibrary.org/ and like Haywood County Public Library on Facebook for the latest updates about library services.
