Indivisible Asheville/WNC offers free ice cream for kids and voting information for adults, Sept. 5

As Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer and the beginning of election-year campaign season, ice cream and voting information make a perfect pair, according to volunteers with Indivisible Asheville/WNC. On Saturday afternoon, September 5, at 1:00 pm, the Sweet Ride Asheville ice cream truck will park at RendezVous Restaurant, the Haw Creek neighborhood source for delicious French comfort food, where Indivisible Asheville/WNC will again offer free ice cream for kids and voting info for adults.

Indivisible Asheville volunteers will have nonpartisan voting information and materials available, to help with voter registration, absentee ballot requests, voting schedules, in-person voting locations, and other voting information.

The group’s previous Ice Cream and Voting events this summer included stops in Montford, Kenilworth, West Asheville, and Southside.

Sweet Ride Asheville’s contact-free ice cream truck features delivery of sweet treats in a Covid-safe manner. All ice cream is individually packaged, placed in a drawer, and opened for customers to take themselves. Indivisible Asheville/WNC volunteers will wear masks and observe social distancing, and masks and sanitizers will be available at information tables.

Indivisible Asheville/WNC is a local grassroots nonprofit dedicated to protecting democracy with informed community action in Western North Carolina. It operates as a 501(c)(4) and is led by an all-volunteer board. The summer Ice Cream and Voting events are part of the organization’s “Let’s All Vote!” 2020 Voter Engagement Campaign.
