Inmate pronounced deceased at Mission Hospital

Press release from Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:

At approximately 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, an inmate at the Buncombe County Detention Facility collapsed during free time in what appeared to be a seizure. The inmate was conscious as a detention officer and detention medical staff responded and began administering first aid. EMS arrived and began life-saving techniques. The inmate was transported to Mission Hospital and was pronounced deceased at 8:31 p.m.

Sheriff Miler has notified the immediate family. The identity of the inmate will soon be made public.

    For profit Mission doesn’t want to save lives of those who can’t pay.
